Dartford player-manager Ben Greenhalgh reacts to 1-0 Isthmian Premier derby win over Chatham Town

Player-manager Ben Greenhalgh felt Dartford produced their best display of the season to beat Chatham on Monday.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between in the Isthmian Premier derby with the Darts taking maximum points thanks to a stoppage-time spot-kick from substitute Dan Smith.

“I thought it was a brilliant performance all round,” said Greenhalgh. “It was our best game that we've played in all six games.

“Obviously, we left it late in terms of winning the game, but I just felt we dominated the performance.

“The first 20 minutes was a bit fiery between both teams breaking out on each other. We changed a couple of things in our press and I thought it worked brilliantly.

“It was never going to be a game of chance after chance, but I just think possession-wise, the way we moved the ball, the way we created the chances in the end was absolutely brilliant, and that's why I'm saying it feels like it was our best performance.

“In the second half, we grew into it and I thought we were the stronger team towards the end.

“It looked like we were going to be the team to score. In the second half, I didn't feel like they were going to score, and that's a credit to the group because I know how good Chatham are as a team and how good their management staff are.

“They're one of the teams that are fighting to be right at the top end and always are at the top end. So, they've established themselves really well in this division.

“We knew this game was going to be probably our toughest of the month, and for us to play the way that we did was absolutely brilliant.”

Smith kept his cool to score the penalty, won by Louie Atkins, and hand the Darts three points.
