Chatham Town manager Kevin Hake reacts to 1-0 defeat at Dartford in the Isthmian Premier

Manager Kevin Hake labelled Chatham’s derby clash at Dartford on Monday as “boring”.

The Isthmian Premier game looked destined to end goalless with clear-cut chances few and far between but the Darts grabbed all three points thanks to a stoppage-time spot-kick from Dan Smith.

“It was pretty much a boring game,” claimed Hake. “We’re disappointed to come away with a loss, but sometimes it is down to just small moments. A small moment led to a penalty kick, which I don't think there's any argument over.

“I don't think either team have really threatened and it had nil-nil written all over it, really.

“It was a really boring one for the 1,500 or so fans who actually came.

“In patches it was good, but I like to see goals. Seeing a 1-0 just from a penalty, I think both sets of supporters might go away a little bit short-changed.

“Both teams tried to get the ball down and play. I think on reflection a draw is a fair result, but you're always going to get things like that happen.

“Any time the ball goes in your box, there's always a chance you can give away a penalty or something's going to happen. Fortune went on their side today - let them have their day in the sun.”

Chatham started brightly in the opening 20 minutes but Hake’s focus was on the end result.

After losing 3-2 at home to Wingate & Finchley, Chats have now lost back-to-back games following a run of three successive wins.

“I look at that, but I'm a results man,” he said. “Do you know what I mean? I'm a results man.

“That's no points out of the bank holiday weekend.

“We're still learning and developing as a side.

“We've got to look at the mistakes that have been made over the weekend because to get zero points is not good enough for a club of our stature.
