Premier League club 'offer personal terms' to Nottingham Forest ace ahead of transfer window

Brentford have reportedly offered personal terms to Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Reds this season, and was crowned Championship Young Player of the Year on Sunday night. With a string of sparkling performances, he has been attracting plenty of admirers.

The Premier League Bees did their best to try to sign him in January. And their interest hasn’t gone away as the end of the campaign draws into view.

Among the clubs chasing Johnson’s signature, they are said to have “so far made the most progress” and have put forward personal terms, according to The Independent. It is said they can offer “a significant improvement” on his wages.

Touting a price tag of £20-25m, the report claims “productive meetings” have also been held with Everton. And “further talks are expected” with Newcastle United, Leicester City and Villarreal.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Burnley, Leeds United, Barnsley, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton have also previously been credited with an interest in the Wales international. Newcastle were reported to be discussing Johnson, whose contract expires in 2023, in a recruitment meeting last month.

The Nigel Doughty Academy graduate teed up what proved to be the winner for Forest on Saturday as they beat Peterborough United 1-0 to all-but guarantee a top-six finish. That took his tally of assists to 10, to go with the 15 goals he has bagged in the league so far this term.
