Police incident closes major road and bridge

The A48 Briton Ferry Bridge near Neath was closed for an hour on Wednesday morning due to a police incident. South Wales Police confirmed they were called at 8.40am to reports of a man in distress on the bridge.

The man was taken to hospital by officers and the road has since reopened.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix said the road was closed eastbound, causing slow traffic from M4 J42 (Swansea East / Briton Ferry, Earlswood) to A474 Neath Road (Briton Ferry Roundabout, Earlswood).
