Live updates as serious fire closes Carmarthenshire road and people are told 'keep windows shut'
A road has been closed due to a wildfire in Carmarthenshire. Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed officers are at the scene and has warned that the A476 Bethania Road is closed in both directions due to the fire between Llannon and Cross Hands.
The police force has asked motorists to avoid the area and find an alternative route for their journey, while it has asked all nearby residents to ensure their windows and doors are shut. Its statement on social media reads: "The road is currently closed due to a wild fire.
"Please avoid the area and find an alternative route for your journey. To all local residents - please ensure your windows & doors are closed. Thank you". Traffic monitoring service, Inrix, has also issued an update on the incident.
Its traffic update reads: "A476 Bethania Road in both directions closed due to serious fire from B4306 Fountain Road (Llannon) to B4310 Heol-Y-Bryn (Upper Tumble)."
