Police cordon off road and specialist investigators at scene as man, 30, dies

Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old man in Tonypandy in the early hours of New Year's Day. Officers were called to reports of a man seriously injured outside Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital car park, Tonypandy.

A statement from South Wales Police said man has died as a result of his injuries and his family have been informed. A man, aged 30, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to custody.

Officers are appealing to anyone around the area of Pen Dinas at around 5am on Monday and who may have seen or heard something. Officers are also appealing to anyone else who may have information to assist the investigation.

There is a temporary road closure in place at Pen Dinas along the A4058 while investigation work is under way.

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon in place outside a block of flats. There are at least two police vehicles at the scene including a specialist crime scene investigations van.
