Police cordon off Manchester path after 'reports of body parts'
Police cordoned off a north Manchester path after being called to 'reports of body parts' thought to be lungs found on Wednesday.
Detectives closed a pathway off Charlestown Road in Blackley, Manchester, at around 4:15pm on January 22 to carry out investigations.
It is understood the discovery 'looked like lungs,' with forensic investigators called to investigate further. Witnesses reported seeing CSI teams on the scene as officers guarded the cordon.
Police have now said subsequent enquiries confirmed the body parts were non-human.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at around 4.15pm to reports of body parts near a pathway off Charlestown Road, Manchester.
"Examinations subsequently confirmed them to be non-human."
