LIVE: Huge emergency response in Moss Side after reports of stabbing near primary school - latest updates

A huge emergency services response was called to Moss Side earlier this afternoon following reports of a stabbing. Police and paramedics can be seen in attendance on Adscombe Street.

Emergency crews were called out at around 2.30pm, with police vehicles seen lining the residential street near to St Mary's C of E Primary School.

Officers remain in attendance conducting enquiries this evening. An investigation is underway following reports that a man was attacked in the street.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they were called to reports of a stabbing at around 2.30pm today.

It's understood the victim was left with an arm injury following the stabbing earlier today

An area outside a block of flats on the street has been taped off.

CSI are in attendance with police vehicles remaining at the scene.

Parents have spoken of their panic this evening following the knife attack earlier today.

One mum, Nahiida Abdullahi, who arrived to collect her children from nearby St Mary's CE Primary, said there were 'a lot of parents and children' in the area at the time emergency crews arrived.

"I was picking up the kids from school when I noticed a lot of police cars and an ambulance nearby," she said.

"I immediately panicked, thinking something had happened inside the school, since it’s so close by. I urgently told my husband to drive faster.

"As we got closer and I saw that the situation was actually outside the school, so I felt a wave of relief. While I was praying and hoping that nothing serious had occurred, I was reassured to see that all the children were safe.

"There were a lot of parents and children. The police blocked the road and we had to take the alternative route
