Philippe Clement unmasked as Rangers candidate labelled a 'gentle' hardliner who doesn’t do recruitment
Rangers candidate Philippe Clement had his heart set on a move to a European club last month with the 49-year-old fuelled by his Monaco sacking and a desire to open the door for his fellow Belgians.
And Rangers could be the perfect destination to offer him the chance to fulfil his managerial ambitions, with the English Premier League having long been a dream of the former Club Brugge and Genk gaffer. Clement is the hot favourite to succeed Michael Beale in the Ibrox hotseat and, in the latest Record Rangers podcast, we spoke to respected Belgian journalist Ludo Vandewalle of the Nieuws-blad media outlet.
He recently travelled to Clement's home in Monaco, where he still lives after losing his job at the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of last season, and told us why he thinks Rangers would be perfect for him at this stage in his career, with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab also desperate to land him. "It’s not a surprise to me that a big international club like Rangers wants to hire him as a coach and there are a lot of other clubs who want to take him.
