Philippe Clement told 3 Rangers non negotiables he will need to handle as edging Celtic out leads pressure cooker list

Philippe Clement has been served a reminder of the standards he'll need to hit at Rangers on a weekly basis by a club great.

The Belgian has impressed in his opening run of fixtures as Ibrox manager after taking over from Michael Beale. He is undefeated in seven - winning six of those - and fans have been encouraged by the early steps the squad have taken since his arrival. Peter McCloy knows all about what it takes to be a Rangers success, having formed part of the legendary squad that won the 1972 European Cup Winners' Cup.

He also won two titles and eight domestic cups across a 16-year stint after arriving in Govan from Motherwell in 1970. McCloy was being asked questions by B Team goalkeeper Mason Munn, who brought up the challenges and scrutiny that come with being a first-team player at Ibrox. The Barca Bear passed down some key reminders to new boss Clement and his stars over what they should expect week-to-week.

He told Rangers TV: "I didn't realise the pressure was so much as I was 23 when it came. I had a bit of experience. But I still didn't realise the amount of pressure you were getting at Rangers.

"When you are playing at a club like Motherwell, you maybe win a game and everybody is happy. Here, you have to win every week and then you have to get that winning mentality. And obviously with our great rivals Celtic, the big thing is we have got to be ahead of them."
