Todd Cantwell warned what crossing Philippe Clement at Rangers looks like as brutal Brugge axe namechecked

Todd Cantwell has been given a real life example of what being frozen out under Philippe Clement looks like.

And former Burnley and Belgium international striker Jelle Vossen has revealed how the current Rangers boss left him with the biggest disappointment of his entire career during a year under his command at Club Brugge. It comes after Cantwell was hooked by the brutal Belgian after just 35 minutes during a draw with Aris Limassol in the Europa League. And now 34-year-old veteran Vossen, who won 12 caps for Belgium and is in the country's all-time top ten list of goalscorers in the top flight, insists the biggest setback of his playing career came under Clement.

Vossen enjoyed five years at Brugge, but was completely forced out of the club after Clement made his feelings clear he wouldn't be playing him. It's a trait he seemingly could take to Rangers as Vossen said: "My biggest disappointment in football was the year I had under Philippe Clement. I didn't get to play anymore.

"Before his very first match, I got bad news. The coach Carl Hoefkens came to me and told me that I was not even going to be on the bench and I had to take a seat in the stands. That was a bitter pill to swallow. He once allowed me on the pitch for 15 minutes but only because the entire stadium was chanting my name.

"But that didn't change my situation. Halfway through the season, I went to Zulte Waregem. I had to train by myself and had to work separately from the rest of the squad with Carl Hoefkens and on match days I was no longer part of the squad. When they played away, I went for ten or twelve mile walks at home. Then you feel very lonely.
