Old Trafford rooms set for revamp after Glazers decide on Manchester United takeover offers

Offices at Old Trafford are due to be refurbished once the Glazer family settle on a resolution of the strategic review of Manchester United.

Maris Interiorsare understood to have secured a contract to modernise the workspaces at the stadium but the agreement will only be sanctioned once there is clarity over United's ownership.

Stadium masterplanners Populous are also in a holding pattern, having presented plans of a redesign or a rebuild of Old Trafford last year.

United's stadium, which has a capacity of 76,000, has not been expanded since the north-west and north-east quadrants were installed in 2006. Those additions were signed off in February 2004 - 15 months before the Glazer family completed their hostile takeover.

The facilities at Britain's largest club stadium have been pilloried in recent years, with several roof leaks reported and a video earlier this year appeared to show a men's toilet overflowing.

The press room in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand was redecorated in March 2019 and new facilities for disabled access were opened in the Stretford End in 2021.

Home and away dressing rooms were upgraded two years ago and the exterior of Old Trafford was painted scarlet red for the first time in over a decade last summer as the previous lick of paint had been allowed to fade to a claret colour.

In April, Old Trafford was omitted from the list of stadiums in the UK and Ireland's bid to co-host the European Championship in 2028. The stadium had originally been shortlisted as a potential host venue by the FA in November 2022 but following consultation between United and the FA, it was agreed that due to the ongoing planning process around the stadium's regeneration,
