Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe told to meet four objectives upon Manchester United takeover

Dwight Yorke says Manchester United’s new owners must invest into the football club, improve the stadium, enhance facilities and subsidise fresh signings should the Glazers indeed decide to sell.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain as frontrunners in the takeover race, which is now into its seventh month. There remains little clarity over how it will conclude with no formal communication from the board since November’s sale announcement.

What remains clear is that the fanbase wants the Glazers to fully exit the club, with supporters staging a protest outside the club’s megastore upon the release of United’s new home shirt on Tuesday.

There is great anger among fans regarding a lack of investment in the club during their tenure, with frustration over the repeated withdrawal of dividends in previous years amid the club’s debts.

Yorke says that any new owner that comes in can reverse the tide by investing in four key areas. He says while there are differences of opinion over which bidder would be the be the best fit at United, all fans are on the same page on a few matters.

“It's very clear that everybody wants the Glazers out of Manchester United and I think it would be a good thing for the football club,” he told BoyleSports. “Everyone will have a divided opinion on the new owner.

“I know how Gary Neville and the likes make a big deal out of it on television, but I think fans just want to see an owner invest back into the club and care.

"Let the new owners buy the football club, invest, improve the stadium and training grounds and bring in new football players, that's what football fans want to see. It doesn't matter who comes
