Manchester United takeover news LIVE Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe updates as Glazers protest arranged

The Manchester United takeover saga has rolled into its eighth month with no end yet in sight.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain the frontrunners, although current owners the Glazer family are yet to make a decision on who they will name as the preferred bidder.

With the current regime announcing their intention to 'explore strategic alternatives' for the club all the way back in November, fans are starting to tire over how long the process is taking.

And supporters' group The 1958 have now organised a fresh protest, which is set to take place outside the club's megastore later this week. The group have vowed they 'won't stop until the Glazers sell'.

Elsewhere Patrice Evra has also called for a swift conclusion to the takeover process in order to avoid it impacting United's plans for the forthcoming season. And former bidder Thomas Zilliacus has also called the process 'the most farcical club takeover in history'.
