Manchester United takeover latest as supporters send Sheikh Jassim message

July will be upon us this time next week but Manchester United supporters are still no closer to finding out how the ownership structure will look at the start of the season.

The Glazer family put the club up for sale in November but since then progress has been slow. The American owners are currently weighing up two bids from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

A major difference between the offers is the percentage of the club which each man wants to buy. Sheikh Jassim is hoping to buy 100 per cent of the club while Ratcliffe is aiming to secure 60 per cent.

However, neither bidder is any closer to completing their deals. With this in mind, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest headlines in the takeover race.

Manchester United fans have hijacked an Instagram post of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani with his family amid the ongoing takeover saga.

In November, the Glazer family announced they were looking for further investment opportunities in United which included the possibility of selling the club entirely. After a long and sometimes drawn-out process, two frontrunners have emerged to buy the Reds.

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is wanting to purchase 60 per cent of the club which would open the door to the Glazers potentially remaining as minority owners. Sheikh Jassim is also in the race and is thought to be in pole position with his offer to buy 100 per cent of United.

And United fans have now appeared in number within the comments section to a family member's latest post on Instagram in which the Qatari banker was pictured.
