Noussair Mazraoui arrival might negatively impact Manchester United player who Erik ten Hag loves

The Players' Player of the Year award is decided by Manchester United's players and Diogo Dalot was acknowledged by his teammates when he picked up the prize.

"For me, it’s even more special [than the main award]. I have a lot of consideration for the fans; they are a big part of me and the biggest part of this club," said Dalot.

"But my teammates are the ones who see each other every single day. We have to come here and we still have to fight, and we still have to share these moments when things are not going well, and when the things are going well. This, ultimately, is my second family.

"This award is recognition by your team-mates, so I think it’s really special because they see you every day, they know the work that you put in behind the scenes."

Dalot lost his starting role in Erik ten Hag's first year but forced his way back into the starting team in 2023/24 and became one of the most consistent performers in the dressing room.

He started 35 games from a possible 38 in the Premier League and managed to avoid injury throughout the campaign, only being unavailable once through suspension.

Dalot's durability was a huge asset in a season when most players seemed to pick up an injury and he probably played the best football of his career on an individual basis.

Of course, last season was disappointing for United as a club, but Dalot emerged with credit and Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sold this summer, which ended their battle for good.

Noussair Mazraoui has been brought in from Bayern Munich for €15million (£12.8m) with a possible €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons and club sources
