Ugarte role, Rashford dropped, Yoro decision - Manchester United strongest Europa League XI
It’s not long until Manchester United return to European action with the new UEFA Europa League just around the corner.
United discovered their opponents in the draw last week with the club facing eight fixtures in the league stage of the competition. They kick off on Wednesday 25 September when they take on FC Twente at Old Trafford, where they will look to get off to a winning start.
Ahead of the start of the league phase, United’s 25-man squad for the competition has now been announced on the UEFA website. All the summer signings Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazeaoui, and Manuel Ugarte have been included.

The 25-man squad consists of an A-list. The club also have a B list that consists of club-trained players born after January 1, 2003.
The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Toby Collyer all qualify for the list and therefore do not need to be counted in the 25-man A list. They all will still be available for the competition.
Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro are among those to be registered on the A-list. But, taking a look at the squad available, what could Erik ten Hag’s strongest team look like?
While he is currently sidelined with a fractured foot, when he returns to fitness, new centre-back Yoro could go straight into the starting XI partnering Lisandro Martinez. Left-back Luke Shaw returning from injury will also provide a boost to Ten Hag with Diogo Dalot currently covering the position.
Another new signing in Manuel Ugarte could add more solidity in midfield alongside Mainoo.
