'No benefit' - West Brom need Leicester City to solve their transfer dilemma

Hamza Choudhury is a known transfer target for West Bromwich Albion this summer - and, not for the first time, for Steve Bruce. The Leicester City midfielder, 24, is free to leave the King Power Stadium this summer provided a suitable offer - ideally permanently but potentially on loan - comes the way of the Foxes.

Bruce, who is hoping to conduct plenty of incoming and outgoing business in the coming weeks and months as Albion begin to put preparations in place for the new season this coming Thursday, wanted Choudhury during his time as Newcastle United boss. There’s no danger of the Magpies coming back in for the midfielder this summer, but Albion could be a viable destination.

For Choudhury, his career is at a crossroads; having fallen down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers, he’s into the final year of his contract and is unlikely to earn a fresh offer to remain there. He struggled to make any kind of impact last season in Leicester’s first-team to justify a new contract, either.

“His importance to Leicester and Rodgers has gradually decreased over the past couple of years,” Jordan Blackwell, of , told us of Choudhury. “His lack of game-time prompted two attempted moves to Newcastle that both broke down. He has mostly been limited to cup appearances.

“When he has played in the Premier League, he has been decent enough, but not good enough that there have been calls from supporters for him to get more time on the pitch. Rodgers does like his energy.
