Leicester City confirm sixth pre-season fixture as Brendan Rodgers’ plans complete

Leicester City have confirmed a sixth friendly of pre-season as they step up their preparations for the new Premier League season.

The first group of City players returned to pre-season training on Monday as Brendan Rodgers puts the squad through their paces. The group did not include players who represented their nations on the international stage after the end of the domestic campaign, although they will be back to training imminently.

City have already put together a schedule of pre-season clashes. They start their friendlies next week when they host National League side Notts County in a behind-closed-doors fixture at the club’s Seagrave Training centre.

City will then go on a training camp to Evian, before taking on sister club OH Leuven in Belgium on Saturday, July 16. Other friendlies against Derby County and Preston North End have been announced on Saturday, July 23, with Rodgers splitting his squad for the two games that take place on the same day.

City will finish their pre-season campaign by hosting La Liga side Sevilla at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, July 31. That game will be a week before City kick off their Premier League calendar at home against Brentford.

The club have now announced a sixth pre-season friendly which will see the squad travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Championship side Hull City on Wednesday 20 July. The game will fall in between the games against OH Leuven and the double header against Preston and Derby.

The game against Hull will see the two teams compete for the Corendon Cup. Therefore, the game will be decided by a penalty shootout should the score be level after 90 minutes, with the winners being presented the trophy on the pitch after the game.
