Leicester City 'in talks' over transfer as Arsenal and West Ham rivaled

Good morning Foxes fans, here are your headlines on Wednesday, 6 July.

Leicester City are said to have Feyenoord playmaker Orkun Kokcu on their radar as they look to revamp their midfield this summer.

The 21-year-old Turkish international is the latest player to be linked with a switch to the King Power Stadium this summer, albeit the club were first mooted to be interested in him back in January 2021. Back then, they were said to have made a loan bid with a view to a permanent deal.

Now, as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in at least two new central midfielders this summer, Kokcu is back on the radar, with The Athletic reporting that City are interested. Arsenal, West Ham, Sevilla, and Lyon are among the clubs who have also been named as suitors for him.

Kokcu is a midfielder in the mould of Tielemans, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists for Feyenoord last season, helping them to reach the final of the Europa Conference League, where they were defeated 1-0 by Jose Mourinho’s Roma. In the Eredivisie, only Dusan Tadic made more key passes per game than Kokcu.

Three Leicester City matches in August and September have had a change of date – but only two will be broadcast live.

City’s home game against United will now kick off at 8pm on Thursday, September 1, and will be shown live on BT Sport. It is part of a full midweek round of fixtures with the Premier League having to squeeze in matches during the upcoming campaign because of the disruption caused by the Qatar World Cup.

As a result, City’s fixture at Brighton can no longer take place on Saturday, September 3, because of the short turnaround. Instead, it has been pushed back a day to Sunday, September 4, kicking off at 2pm. It will not be shown live
