Mikey Johnston CAN rescue Celtic career but John Hartson warns there is 'no hiding place'

Mikey Johnston has been told how to rescue his Celtic career as he continues to impress on loan at West Brom.

Brendan Rodgers allowed the Republic of Ireland international to depart the Hoops for six months after failing to make a real impact in Glasgow - but it has been the complete opposite at the Hawthorns. The winger has been earning rave reviews with the supporter base desperate for the Baggies to turn his move into a permanent agreement. Pundits have also been heaping praise on him after some brilliant performances and goals with Johnston already bagging six goals including four in his last four outings.

Hartson is delighted to see him perform so well in the English Championship as he challenged him to put on similar performances when he returns north of the border. He reckons dealing with that pressure and having no hiding place is key but is certain Rodgers will hand him another chance to get his career at Parkhead back on track with his Celtic contract running until 2026.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "This is a really interesting one. When Brendan Rodgers said that he needs to move a few on a lot of the Celtic fans would have put Mikey Johnston in that because his performances for Celtic have not been at the level that Rodgers has been looking for.

"Now you go and send him to West Brom and people are saying we should have kept him, given him chances etc. But in all fairness Celtic were not in a position to give lads opportunities, they have to go win games. So Brendan maybe needs to go with his more tried and trusted and experience. I am glad for Mikey that he is doing so well. West Brom is a big club.
