Celtic news bulletin as Jake Clarke Salter 'interest' emerges while final Adam Idah transfer call faces delay

Celtic face a English Premier League transfer tussle for QPR defender Jake Clarke-Salter, according to a report.

The Hoops have been named as one of a host of clubs who are 'interested' in snapping up the centre-back. Brendan Rodgers currently has Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales as his first choice duo with Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh and Gustaf Lagerbielke in reserve. The latter had a proposed move to Italy cancelled late on in January and could well depart in the summer having barely featured since his move to Scotland.

Clarke-Salter - who is under contract until 2026 - also has the likes of Crystal Palace, Burnley, Wolves and English Championship promotion chases Ipswich Town keeping tabs claim The Sun. He came through the ranks at Chelsea and has been an ever-present in England's second tier for QPR this term. He's also been capped at England Under-21 level.

As well as the Stamford Bridge outfit the stopper has turned out for Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Vitesse, Birminham City and Coventry City throughout his career to date. Meanwhile, Adam Idah will need to wait until the end of the current campaign to learn his own situation at Celtic with his loan at Norwich City expiring at that point.

Rodgers snapped up the Irishman on a temporary deal from the Canaries and he's settled into life well in Glasgow netting five goals in just 10 apperances so far. All his goals have come from eight outings in the Scottish Premiership and he is likely to play a key role in whether the Hoops can retain their league crown and lift the Scottish Cup.
