Michael Stewart blasts 'inexcusable' Rangers allocation call by SPFL as pundit riffs on two Viaplay Cup Final ticket issues

Michael Stewart has blasted the SPFL's decision to hand Rangers the majority of tickets for December's Viaplay Cup Final with Aberdeen.

The Pittodrie side were forced into an apology this week after Rangers fans obtained tickets for their end at next month's showpiece match. But the SPFL's call to hand the Ibrox side 25k of the briefs and Aberdeen less than 50% with 19.5k has sparked anger in the fanbase alongside club disappointment.

There's plenty of anxious punters up north facing a scramble to obtain the final 2.5k tickets remaining for the Cup Final and it's dominated debate across the international break. Stewart insists the chance to sell 50% of the national stadium should have been afforded to the Dons. He told Sportsound: "There's two issues for me. The first one is the split and personally, I don't see why for a final when a club is asking for 50% that there should be any circumstance that it's rejected.

"If a club the size of Aberdeen is asking for 50% of the tickets, they should be having 50% of the tickets. I hear all the chat about security, the way the stands are split. You know as well as I do, Celtic vs Rangers final, there is a 50-50 split.

"Hearts or Hibs going to the final, invariably, there would be 50% at least option to begin with. I find it inexcusable that the authorities don't allow 50% of the tickets to be given to Aberdeen in the first instance to go and sell them.

"They were obviously very keen to have no boundaries in place so they could sell all those tickets and also make a point. Which is understandable.

"There has got to be some system in place to make sure it is Aberdeen fans get in and thankfully they have been able to rectify that. But the bigger issue for me, in the wider
