Michael Beale 'heartbroken' by ropey Rangers stint as wounded boss bares his soul over Ibrox misfire

Michael Beale admits he has been bruised by his rough stint in charge of Rangers.

The Londoner is already under-fire at new club Sunderland after just seven games, with fans far from impressed by what they are seeing from his side. Beale was touted as the brains behind the 2020/21 Premiership title win under Steven Gerrard and an impressive start at QPR looked to show he could cut the mustard as a leading man too.

He lasted less than a year as Rangers manager, with recruitment becoming a heavy burden after sporting director Ross Wilson's exit and a patchy summer hit-rate proved damaging. Speaking to Sky, he believes Rangers need stability going forward to ensure success. Beale said: "I think stability in a football club is really important. When it comes to recruitment, there was a lot of turnover at my last club. I still think they have a fantastic chance, Rangers, to fulfil whatever they want to fulfil. There was a lot of change and that can destabilise.

"That is important for us to understand here at Sunderland, for us to nudge the group on. There was a lot of change, players leaving and coming in and naturally that is going to take time to settle. Sometimes the demands are really high and you need to hit the ground running.

"I am as pleased as anyway to see the team go on to win the League Cup as we were in a good position. But it's one thing being in a good position and going on to win it so I was delighted for everybody at Rangers for that to happen, and to get out the Europa League group.

"That is the biggest thing for any football club. Some stability with people in the decision makers off the pitch and stability in and around the squad so it can grow. Any club that has that over a period of time generally moves
