Michael Beale faces Sunderland mutiny but Rangers ally goes swinging at 'mad' fan backlash

It continues to go from bad to worse for Michael Beale at Sunderland as fans have universally turned on him after just three games.

#BealeOut is trending on X already and Black Cat fans want rid. But A former Rangers ally in Ally McCoist reckons it's MADNESS to call for his head at this stage. It's been a borderline disaster for Beale since replacing Tony Mowbray at the Stadium of Light and sections of his own fans were heard singing 'sacked in the morning' after defeat to Hull City at home on Friday night. He's won just one of his seven games in charge with the low point a drab 3-0 defeat to bitter rivals Newcastle at home.

Sunderland fans were all over social media this morning demanding the former Rangers boss is sacked but McCoist reckons it's too early - even if he understands the frustration. And he reckons an undercurrent of support for Mowbray, who many Sunderland fans didn't want to see the back of, is part of why it's all going wrong.

He said on talkSPORT: "The first thing you've got to say is is madness talking about someone's job after four or five games, let alone four or five months. They are sitting in tenth position, three points off the playoffs. So it's hardly a disaster.

"But there is an element of Sunderland fans who thought Tony Mowbray was very harshly treated. So whoever comes in, if there's a fondness for the previous manager, is then under added pressure. It hasn't started well, they've won one, a couple of defeats and a draw. They got beat by Hull on Friday night, I watched the highlights and it wasn't great.

"I think it's far too early. But I can understand the unrest among the Mackem camp."
