Met Office confirms ANOTHER named storm with more strong winds and heavy rain

With the country still reeling from the effects of Storm Isha, yet another named storm is just around the corner. The Met Office has confirmed that Storm Jocelyn is forecast to arrive tomorrow (January 23).

It's the latest named storm to hit the UK this winter, having been named by Irish meteorologists at Met Éireann. Forecasters are warning that Jocelyn will bring more strong winds and heavy rain to the UK.

Greater Manchester is covered by a yellow weather warning for wind from 4pm tomorrow, until midday on Wednesday. Northern England, North Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are also covered by the warning.

The Met Office says Jocelyn is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 65 mph inland, while exposed coasts could see gusts of 70 mph. Manchester is currently forecast for heavy rain from 8am to 3pm tomorrow, before a windy night with gusts of up to 47 mph. The city could see temperatures as high as 13C tomorrow with lows of 9C, while sunny intervals are forecast for Wednesday, with highs of 10C and lows of 4C.

It comes after Storm Isha caused major disruption across the UK on Monday night. Amber and red warnings were in force at the storm’s height and a yellow alert warning of gusts of up to 80mph is in force until midday on Monday.
