Matthijs de Ligt's wife reacts to £42.9m Man United transfer with two-word message

Matthijs de Ligt's wife has posted an exciting two-word message on social media as the Netherlands international prepares for a fresh start at Manchester United.

The 25-year-old saw his move to Old Trafford rubber-stamped on Tuesday night. De Ligt, who is well-known to the United manager Erik ten Hag from their Ajax days, touched down in the UK as part of a double transfer with former Ajax and now-ex Bayern Munich teammate Noussair Mazraoui.

United paid £51.5million for De Ligt and Mazraoui to take their overall spend this summer nearer to the £150million-mark. Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee agreed their respective moves last month, and United are still in the market for further additions if they can sanction much-needed sales.

However, there's equal merit in allowing their signings to get used to new surroundings first.

De Ligt, whose 25th birthday coincided with his latest transfer, forged his reputation under Ten Hag with Ajax and spent three years at Juventus before ending his two-year stint in Bavaria this summer. But will the centre-back find his best form under his compatriot, once again?
