'We can't stand still' - Erik ten Hag issues Manchester United transfer update

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has refused to rule out the possibility of making further additions to his squad ahead of the transfer window closing later this month.

United added two new faces to their squad earlier this week, swooping for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. The former has been handed a start for tonight's Premier League opener against Fulham and De Ligt has been named on the bench.

Their arrivals at Old Trafford have taken the club's number of summer recruits to four, following the earlier acquisitions of Leny Yoro from Lille and Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The latter has been named among the substitutes tonight.

United are now understood to be focusing on strengthening their midfield options ahead of the window closing on August 30. Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte is their top target to bolster that area of the team.

Beyond strengthening in midfield, there's also a possibility that United could look to sign another left-back amid Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia's injury issues. And Ten Hag has refused to rule out the prospect of more business being done before the end of the window.

Answering a question from Roy Keane on the possibility of further incomings this summer, Ten Hag told Sky Sports: "We can't stand still."

Asked which positions he might want to add to, Ten Hag added: "It depends what happens in the market, but I am happy with the squad and I think when we have this squad, I am quite confident ahead of the new season."
