BBC's Celebrity Race Across the World: Who are the celebs taking part?

The second series of Celebrity Race Across the World is returning to our TV screens from tonight (Wednesday, August 14). Four celebrities and their plus ones have committed to take on the mighty 12,500 km race.

The popular series sees famous faces say goodbye to lavish transport, smartphones and bank cards to get to their destinations. Instead they must rely on their skills, ingenuity as well as the kindness of strangers.

The journey begins from Belém in Northern Brazil. From here the pairs have to pass through five checkpoints to reach their final destination in Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile. It will be a race against time to see which one of the celebrities can make it to their final destination first, if at all.

This is the second celebrity edition coming to BBC One. Fans of the show will remember Alex and Noel Beresford as the reigning champions in the first series.

Reflecting on their victory, which saw them travel across 24 countries and over 10,000km from the starting point in Marrakesh, Alex told the BBC: “It feels fantastic. We feel like we’re on top of the world right now.

“This is the toughest experience I have ever had. But we got to travel together, as men, and that isn’t something that every father and son get to do, and for me, that’s why this has been unforgettable and something that I will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

Noel added: “It was something else. Alex kept saying to me, ‘come on dad, come on dad’ and I said ‘I’m right behind you!’ He just kept pulling me along and it’s all worth it now."

Celebrity Race Across the World on BBC One at 9pm. Here are the 2024 celebrities hoping to take the crown from Alex and Noel this time
