Matondo destined for exit, Hagi's dad silence broken and door opens for £1.7m bargain – Rangers transfer state of play

Winger Rabbi Matondo is reportedly "destined" for a move to Blackburn Rovers this summer as Rangers escalate their summer clearout.

Philippe Clement has made no secret of the fact that the club need to move on fringe men before he can bring in new arrivals - and the wheeling and dealing looks to be ramping up behind the scenes at Ibrox. While the likes of Todd Cantwell have been relegated to the B team as they search for a new club, Welsh international Matondo has remained in the first-team picture - while mainly featuring for the Light Blues off the bench so far this season.

However, reports now suggest that a move to the English Championship is on the cards. Leeds United had been touted with a £2m switch for the wide man, but reports now suggest that Rovers are leading the race. The Daily Mail claim Matondo "has been discussed" behind the scenes at Elland Road but is "destined" for Rovers this summer.

Another outgoing star looks to be Ianis Hagi - who has also been sent to the Colt side by boss Clement this season. The 25-year-old Romanian returned from Alaves this summer in search of fresh start under Clement after starring for his country at Euro 2024 in Germany - but has been told in no uncertain terms by that he is not in the first-team plans at Ibrox.
