Talented Dumfries and Galloway tennis player gets chance to play at Wimbledon

A talented young tennis player has been having an ace time at one of the world’s most famous sporting venues.

Isla McFarlane won the south of Scotland qualifier of the LTA’s Play Your Way to Wimbledon competition.

And that gave the Stewartry Community Sports Club member the chance to go to SW19.

Isla won one of her round-robin matches but was unable to progress to the semi-finals, but it was still a tremendous achievement to be one of the 48 girls who made it to Wimbledon, with more than 13,000 children having entered.

Isla also had the chance to meet former British No.1 Tim Henman, who was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon four times.
