Mason Mount makes Champions League admission after sealing Manchester United transfer

Midfielder Mason Mount is relishing the opportunity to play for Manchester United under the lights at Old Trafford in the Champions League.

The England international, who won the competition with Chelsea two years ago, completed his move to Old Trafford on Wednesday, putting pen to paper on an initial five-year deal. United acted swiftly to get the deal over the line after agreeing a £60million fee with the Londoners last week.

Mount, who has been awarded the No.7 shirt in M16, was determined to leave Chelsea and was hungry to complete a move to United once he had learned of their interest. He will now be hoping to hit the ground running and help the club build on the success it achieved last season under Erik ten Hag.

One of those success stories was, of course, sealing a top four finish, resulting in Champions League qualification for the forthcoming campaign being secured. The Reds competed in the Europa League last term after finishing sixth in 2021/22.

And it is the Champions League nights at Old Trafford that Mount is seemingly looking forward to most.

"I've had the experience of playing there as an away team and it's so tough," Mount told MUTV. "You're not just playing against the team, you're playing against the fans as well, and they're always behind the team and singing the songs, and it's a theatre to come and play.

"It's amazing, you look forward to it every time but now obviously putting the home kit on and I can't wait to walk out there.
