Marcus Rashford might struggle to get back into the Manchester United side

Manchester United's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League are hanging by a thread after their chaotic 3-3 draw with Galatasaray last night.

It had got off to the perfect start thanks to brilliant early goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, but a soft free-kick from Hakim Ziyech gifted the hosts a way back into the game.

United looked certain to go on and win when Scott McTominay restored a two-goal lead after the break, yet they somehow managed to throw it away after another easy goal for Ziyech and a brilliant strike from Muhammed Aktürkoğlu. Here are the main talking points from the match:

PLAYER RATINGS: Fernandes good and Onana poor

MATCH REACTION: Onana's reaction after United scored shows he needs to change after Galatasaray howlers

Qualification hopes

United knew they needed something special if they were going to have any hopes of keeping their qualification dreams alive and they had just that in the opening 15 minutes.

Garnacho and Fernandes set the side well on their way to finishing runners-up in Group A with two brilliant goals that silenced the home crowd and turned Hell into Heaven. The problem for Red Devils is that they feel a lot more comfortable in the former.

United could quite easily have 12 points in the group, but instead they have four. Now they must beat Bayern at home, and even then, it might not be enough.

The same problems keep occurring

United conceded two in four minutes against Bayern Munich, two in four minutes against Copenhagen, two in 10 minutes at home to Galatasaray and two in nine minutes last night. You can blame Andre Onana all you like, but this is a team with a fundamental lack of discipline, control, and identity.

Whatever
