Manchester United vs Real Sociedad LIVE early team news and predictions for Europa League fixture

Manchester United begin their Europa League campaign on Thursday night when they host Real Sociedad at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 8pm BST.

Erik ten Hag's side head into the game off the back of an impressive four-match unbeaten run and will be hoping to keep that going in order to start their European campaign in style.

United are currently unbeaten across their last 18 home matches in the Europa League (W14 D4), starting with a victory against Midtjylland in February 2016. Sociedad have never won against English opponents in Europe, scoring only once across six matches. But they did avoid defeat in their last match against English opponents – a 0-0 draw against United in February last year.

In terms of early team news, Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro are both in line to start, but Anthony Martial will be missing through injury.

A look at how United and Sociedad have been playing ahead of tonight's match.

Anthony Martial is still unavailable for United in their opening Europa League tie against Real Sociedad.

Martial has been sidelined for the last two weeks with an Achilles injury and has only played 45 minutes this season as he missed the start due to a hamstring strain.

"Yes he's still out, he's progressing but he's not ready to get back into team training," United manager Erik ten Hag said.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Fred and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the senior players pushing for a recall in United's first group game at Old Trafford.
