Man charged in connection with death of father-of-four killed in motorbike crash

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a father-of-four killed in a motorbike crash last year. Carl Dawson, 43, died following the late night collision on Hillier Street on September 7, 2021.

Shikeo Bell, 18, of Scargill Close, has been charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving, one count of aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, one count of causing death while uninsured and one count of causing death whilst driving without a license.

Officers had initially been called at around 11.45pm to reports of the road traffic collision on Hillier Street, Moston. Emergency services attended, where Carl died a short time later.

Following the crash last year, family and friends lay flowers, cards and cans of Carling Black Label, which he always drank, at the scene and talked of how much they would miss him.

Daughter Keely Burns, 20, a carer from Blackley previously said: "He was always there for us. We were like best friends and he was one in a million."

And his brother-in-law Paul Taylor, 37, who lives in Newton Heath said: "He was the most funny, bubbly and outgoing person I have met. He guided me in life."

Bell will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on September 14, Greater Manchester Police said.
