Manchester United transfer news LIVE with Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez updates

Manchester United and other Premier League teams will be able to get down to business in less than 24 hours as the summer transfer window reopens. Erik ten Hag will then have until 11pm on Friday, September 1 to sign players for the 2022/2023 season.

United want to sign a centre back, at least one central midfielder and a versatile attacking option. As things stand, their top targets are Jurrien Timber, Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez.

However, such is the quality of those players, United and Ten Hag won't have a free run and Liverpool appear to be willing to break their transfer record for Nunez. He scored 34 goals in 41 matches for Benfica last season and has emerged as one of the most deadly finishers in Europe.

Aside from those players, other big names continue to be linked with moves to Old Trafford and beyond.

Sky Sports are linking United with a £29.9m swoop for Ibrahim Sangare this summer.

He is well known to former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag from their time in the Eredivisie.

Here is what Sangare said about his future in May;

I'll go on holiday and have time to talk about possible next projects but, until then, I don't want to worry about that. Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world.

United want to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer as part of their rebuild.
