Manchester United transfer news LIVE Jurrien Timber latest and Frenkie de Jong to Man United updates

Manchester United and other Premier League teams were able to get down to business yesterday.

That's because the summer transfer window officially opened on Friday. United want to sign a centre back, at least one central midfielder and a versatile attacking option. As things stand, their top targets are Jurrien Timber, Frenkie de Jong and Darwin Nunez.

However, such is the quality of those players, United and Ten Hag won't have a free run and Liverpool appear to be willing to break their transfer record for Nunez. He scored 34 goals in 41 matches for Benfica last season.

In other transfer news, United have released their retained list ahead of the 2022/23 season, with 11 players set to leave the club this month. United had already confirmed the departure of six players and five more players will be joining them.
