Manchester United transfer news LIVE plus Bruno Fernandes updates and Man Utd vs Real Betis build-up

Manchester United continue to move on from Sunday's Liverpool defeat at Carrington today.

Bruno Fernandes' performance at Anfield led to many questions being asked about his suitability as captain of the Reds. During the loss on Merseyside, the Portuguese attacking midfielder was accused by Gary Neville of asking to come off the pitch.

However, MEN Sport's sources at United were adamant that Fernandes was not trying to exit the match early. Instead, it is understood that the 28-year-old was merely consulting with the bench regarding a tactical tweak that Erik ten Hag was making.

Elsewhere on Monday, the United squad arrived at the training ground early for a debrief on the weekend's result with the players pictured in training afterwards. The Reds have no time to wallow though with preparations already firmly underway for Thursday night's Europa League clash with Real Betis.

Manuel Pellegrini's side arrive at Old Trafford for the first leg of the round of 16 tie and United will be keen to put Liverpool behind them with a good result.

Bruno Fernandes did not request to be substituted during Manchester United's defeat at Liverpool.

Former United captain Gary Neville, on co-commentary for broadcasters Sky Sports, claimed Fernandes was requesting to come off for Anthony Elanga when Marcus Rashford was withdrawn.

United sources say Fernandes sought clarification on his position after the 85th-minute change with Liverpool 6-0 up. Liverpool scored a seventh in the 88th minute.
