Manchester United will be targeting a second trophy of 2024 when they face Manchester City in Saturday's Community Shield clash at Wembley.

The Reds booked a second Wembley date of the year with their cross-city rivals after beating them 2-1 in May's FA Cup final. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo netted in the first half to secure a second trophy in as many seasons under Erik ten Hag.

The all-Manchester clash will mark United's first competitive outing of the 2024/25 campaign, ahead of facing Fulham in their Premier League opener. The Cottagers will visit Old Trafford on Friday, August 16.

Ahead of the start of the new Premier League season, United are working tirelessly behind the scenes to strengthen Ten Hag's squad. The club is desperate to sign a holding midfielder to add to the additions of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro so far this summer.

Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries is focused on securing a move elsewhere and does not intend to negotiate a new contract until the summer transfer window is shut.

Dumfries, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, is determined to leave Inter and is tempted with the possibility of joining Erik ten Hag's Reds, according to The Athletic.
