Manchester United receive clearest Manuel Ugarte transfer hint yet

Manchester United have been handed a Manuel Ugarte transfer update courtesy of Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds have been strongly linked to the 23-year-old throughout the summer window as Erik ten Hag aims to sign a new midfielder.

Alongside strengthening in the club's engine room, bringing in at least one new defender and attacker were priorities with both of those having already been fulfilled. Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro were acquired a number of weeks ago with Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui confirmed as new arrivals on Tuesday.

Though Casemiro now looks set to remain at Old Trafford, adding depth in midfield is still needed with a number of potential options, alongside Ugarte, identified. Youssouf Fofana emerged as an option but his move from AS Monaco to AC Milan has since been finalised.

Contact has also been made with Burnley for Sander Berge with Martin Zubimendi another option, though he looks set to remain at Real Sociedad after turning down a move to Liverpool. While many targets were looked at, Ugarte in an option with PSG also open to an exit, and that fact has been further evidenced by a huge announcement.

Ahead of their Ligue 1 clash against Le Havre, PSG announced their 21-man squad which included new signing Joao Neves, though Ugarte has been left out.

While all parties are open to the move, there are still formalities to resolve. Firstly, PSG's asking price still stands in the region of £50million, which is believed to be higher than what United are willing to hit.
