Manchester United takeover news recap as Sheikh Jassim camp 'feel like frontrunners'

A report claims Sheikh Jassim's camp feel the Manchester United takeover race will either end in a Qatari purchase or no sale at all.

It's being suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid has been welcomed by minority shareholders, who feel they would be short-changed if his bid wins. Ratcliffe remains hopeful he can convince the Glazers to grant him exclusivity, hoping that his proposal to keep brothers Joel and Avram in post will get them on his side.

Fans will take solace in the fact that they have agreed a fee for Mason Mount despite the takeover uncertainty, but it will not hide their frustrations at the length of the process.

United came to an agreement over a £60m fee for Mount on Thursday, with uncertainty over who will pay the midfielder's future wages doing little to hinder the process. He will undergo a medical next week and Erik ten Hag will begin to move focus elsewhere as he continues his summer rebuild.

As slow as it seems, the process of selling the club will be moving forward, and Sheikh Jassim's camp are becoming increasingly confident that their bid will come out on top. The Qatari-backed bid is for 100% of the club and will rid it of debt.

The new shirt is an homage to Manchester and Salford, with a design featuring the Lancashire Rose and the iconic industrial revolution-era bridge over the River Irwell. The traditional red shirt, white shorts and black socks will be worn for the first time against Leeds in a pre-season friendly.
