Manchester United transfer news recap as Andre Onana interest 'confirmed' and Ethan Laird leaves

Manchester United look set to secure their first signing of the summer after agreeing a £60million fee with Chelsea for Mason Mount on Thursday.

The Reds found success at the fourth time of asking, having previously seen three offers knocked back by those at Stamford Bridge. Mount will undergo a medical and finalise personal terms when he returns from holiday - and has already explained his best position.

The 24-year-old's arrival at Old Trafford will tick off a major summer objective for Erik ten Hag, who had identified a technical midfielder as one of his three priority positions. Meaning United are now just two signings away from an ideal starting XI.

United look to be wasting no time in pursuit of the former, with reports suggesting they are now stepping up their interest in Andre Onana. The club are said to have made contact with Inter Milan over their goalkeeper, who could cost around £50million.

It comes with David de Gea looking increasingly likely to leave the club, with his contract expiring today, while a contract expiry elsewhere could see United miss out on millions.

The hunt for a No.9 is proving less fruitful, however, with top target Harry Kane unlikely to leave Tottenham and alternative options set to cost a fortune.

But United might have already identified their perfect alternative to the Spurs forward. We'll keep you up to date with any developments on the striker front.
