Manchester United takeover latest as Sir Jim Ratcliffe provides update on bid
Manchester United bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe made a rare statement on the takeover process this week as the saga rumbles on.
The Glazers have been mulling over bids for United for several months now. In November, the American owners announced they were seeking strategic alternatives for the club which would include the possibility of a full sale.
However, progress has been slow in the months that have followed. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani was deemed to be the favourite recently but The Guardian claimed on Wednesday he was still awaiting acknowledgement of his fifth bid which was submitted four weeks ago.

Bloomberg claimed Ratcliffe's offer was 'dead in the water' due to his bid not taking into account the minority stakeholders. However, the INEOS chief rejected these claims, and MEN Sport has taken a look at what the British billionaire has had to say.
Prospective owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said that INEOS are still "in the process" of attempting to win the United takeover battle.
The chemical giant, who are led by boyhood United supporter Ratcliffe, remain one of the frontrunners to complete a takeover, alongside Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim. Ratcliffe's bid is to secure a majority stake while Sheikh Jassim wants full control of the club.
The battle to secure the keys to Old Trafford is now more than seven months old, with the Glazer family so far refusing to bring the saga to a conclusion. Both INEOS and Sheikh Jassim have each tabled a collection of bids, with the latter presenting a fifth bid last month.
While the
