Manchester United's injury record has conveniently improved ahead of the FA Cup final

Erik ten Hag acknowledged the incentive of appearing in an FA Cup final has motivated some Manchester United players to regain fitness.

United had such a depleted squad at the start of the month that 11 players were absent for the 4-0 thrashing at Crystal Palace, where Ten Hag named two goalkeepers on the bench and five academy players without a start between them.

In a season where United have recorded 65 cases of injury or illness that have caused a player to miss a match, only three players are unavailable for Saturday's final against Manchester City.

Tyrell Malacia has missed the entirety of the season with a knee injury, Luke Shaw has not played since February 18 due to a hamstring problem and a muscular injury has kept out Harry Maguire for the last three weeks.

Ten Hag confirmed Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial are all available for selection this weekend. Lindelof has been out for eight weeks with a hamstring injury, Mount has started twice in seven months and Martial last appeared on December 30.

Martial will be released next month and United plan to sell Lindelof, while Mount has endured a dismal debut campaign since his £60million transfer.

The joint-most number of injuries United have recorded in a month were 10 in November and April. Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Marcus Rashford returned from lay-offs last week in the wins over Newcastle and Brighton.

Varane, Lindelof and Martinez sustained injuries within a five-day period in March and April and United said at the time they were optimistic the trio would be available to play again
