Manchester United's Andre Onana tipped to replicate David De Gea achievement after Wolves showing

Odds on Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana winning the Premier League Golden Glove have been slashed following his display against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Onana was a rock at the back for the Reds for most of the 90 minutes at Old Trafford. United's visitors had plenty of possession and looked the more dangerous going forward but were halted by the 27-year-old on each occasion.

His competitive debut for the club could have backfired in stoppage time when he opted to rush off his line to collect a late cross into the penalty area and in doing so clattered into Wolves substitute Sasa Kalajdzic. Referee Simon Hooper and VAR's Michael Salisbury and Richard West all agreed the challenge did not constitute a foul but all three men have since been scrapped from this weekend's Premier League fixtures.

Despite the nervy end to his debut, bookmakers Bet365 are confident Onana can replicate the achievements of David de Gea's Golden Glove victory of last term, when the Spaniard kept 17 clean sheets.

Bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: "Most of the time, Manchester United had a steady pair of hands in David de Gea, but it’s going to be anything but dull with Andre Onana between the posts.
