Two players have two games to avoid Erik ten Hag axe at Manchester United

Manchester United thought they had addressed three major question marks during the summer transfer window, but with further business on the cards manager Erik ten Hag still has one or two glaring concerns to find a solution to before the first international break next month.

Having guided the club to a third-place finish in the Premier League last season, not to mention reaching the two domestic showpieces and ending their six-year trophy hoodoo, Ten Hag acted decisively in the market to improve his squad. Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund were summoned.

While it remains early days, Onana has been able to underline what he will bring to the group and his playing style is certainly more in tune with Ten Hag than David De Gea was. Due to injury, United supporters have yet to watch Hojlund strut his stuff at Old Trafford first-hand and after an underwhelming start to life at Old Trafford, Mason Mount will now also join him on the treatment table.

Mount has, perhaps unfairly, been thrust as a scapegoat in some circles for what has been an underwhelming start to the term from a collective standpoint. But he is far from alone in underperforming so far, while he must be afforded suitable time to settle into new surroundings.

But the clock is ticking for Ten Hag and his coaching staff to make a key selection decision. Who will step aside for Hojlund as and when the £72million goal-getter is fighting fit?
