Managing Manchester United: Manuel Ugarte transfer, Jadon Sancho decision and Ivan Toney hijack

It has been a busy summer for Manchester United with it being the first under the ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

The club have so far brought four new players into the squad. Striker Joshua Zirkzee has been joined by defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.

Three of the four made their debuts in last weekend’s season opener against Fulham at Old Trafford. Zirkzee came off the bench to make an immediate impact, scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.

There is now less than a week of the transfer window left. Clubs will be working to sort any last minute deals, and that will be the same at Old Trafford in terms of possible incomings and outgoings.

So what could the last few days of the transfer window look like for United? MEN Sport has taken a look at some of the things that could happen if we were in Ten Hag’s shoes.

The deal that looks the most likely between now and the end of the transfer window is the signing of Paris Saint Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. United have been linked with an interest in the Uruguayan for most of the summer.

The club walked away from negotiations due to PSG’s high asking price, but it seems that the talks have now continued. MEN Sport understand that progress has been made on a deal with the club closing in on the midfielder.

The priority will now be to get a deal over the line before next Friday’s deadline. The 23-year-old has been targeted as a potential long-term partner alongside Kobbie Mainoo in United’s midfield.
