Manchester United questioned over 'desperate' Sergio Reguilon signing

Robbie Savage has questioned Manchester United over their "desperate" efforts to snap up Sergio Reguilon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

United have completed a deadline day loan transfer for Tottenham left-back Reguilon with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia currently injured. United have also been credited with an interest in midfielder Hojbjerg but their primary target is Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat.

A move to bring the Moroccan to Old Trafford from Italian side Fiorentina is gathering pace. But there is still work to do to finalise Amrabat's proposed switch before the 11pm cut-off on Friday night.

Speaking exclusively to Planet Sport Bet, former United player Savage said: "Manchester United have been linked with so many players in the left-back position, as well as in central midfield. The player I would go for in midfield is Sofyan Amrabat, he's got a great diagonal pass, I think he's a fantastic player, and I think that he would add quality to that midfield position."

Savage continued: "At left-back I would give an opportunity to young Alvaro Fernandez. He did so well on loan at Preston [last season] and if you look at the situation, the question that I would ask, would names like Reguilon and Hojbjerg have been on United's list at the start of the transfer window?

"The answer is no. Hojbjerg was mentioned as an option in midfield and it has got to the point where Manchester United need to identify their main targets and go all-out to get them. Sofyan Amrabat has been linked all
