Manchester United player ratings as Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen good vs Nottingham Forest
Andre Onana
Went to ground far too easily for the one-on-one that Taiwo Awoniyi scored in the second minute. Helpless for the second goal. 5
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Lost the aerial duel that led to the first goal but otherwise decent and provided reasonable service but the absence of a reliable striker was glaring. 6
Raphael Varane
Had to cover for United's porous left-hand side once but came off at half-time, presumably with an injury. 6
Lisandro Martinez
Arguably having a more chastening start to this season than last season. Too loose and too hot-headed in the first half, he was calmer after the break. 5

Diogo Dalot
Strengthened Erik ten Hag's case for a new left-back. Not his natural position but often went walkabout and gave away the foul that led to Forest's second goal. 4
Casemiro
Not positioned for the breakaway Forest struck from and he barely marked Willy Boly for the second. Missed a great chance to equalise in the first half but did in the second. 6
Christian Eriksen
His smart prod in the 18th minute got United back into the contest. An upgrade on Mason Mount on his first start of the season. 6
Antony
A slight improvement in the first half on recent performances but not enough. Unfortunate with a curling effort at 2-2. Still not consistent enough. 5
Bruno Fernandes
Brilliantly worked United's equaliser with the free-kick before receiving the ball to nod down for Casemiro. Scored the penalty to put United ahead. 7
Marcus Rashford
Outmuscled and outsprinted by Awoniyi but atoned with good contributions for Eriksen's goal and the equaliser. 6
Anthony Martial
United's issues could be gauged by Martial's presence in the starting
