Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount opens up following 'tough' start at Old Trafford

Mason Mount has admitted the start of his time at Manchester United has been 'tough' since leaving Chelsea.

Although Mount made a strong impression during pre-season in the summer, he struggled in his first two appearances in the Premier League for the club and he picked up a hamstring injury which ruled him out for over a month.

The midfielder made his comeback against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup earlier in the week and he started again versus the Eagles in the league clash on Saturday, but the London club secured the win on that occasion.

Palace won 1-0 at Old Trafford to inflict a fourth defeat in seven games in the season for Erik ten Hag's side and Mount, speaking to MUTV after the final whistle, opened up about his difficult start to life in Manchester.

"It was a tough start for me with the injury," Mount said. "But I've used that time to look at areas I can improve on and coming back into the team in the last game, it felt good, then today, it felt good but we don't want to lose games.

"Especially at home, we want to perform for our fans but we need to go away and look at areas that weren't there. There are games coming thick and fast now and every game we're playing different competitions.

"We've got Champions League at home under the lights next and that's an exciting one to play, so hopefully we can win that game."

United play Turkish club Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
